CERT Training



CERT Training Application - the next CERT training class begins January 9th. (Dates are then Jan 16, 23, 30, Feb 7, 14, and 21)

The training will be held at the Boy Scouts of America District Office, 800 Ellenwood Way, Pleasant Hill.  Classes begin at 6:00 pm and end at 9:30 pm. The course, given over 7 Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, emphasizes preparedness, first aid, small fire suppression, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, and what supplies to have on hand.

A practical exercise finishes the course on Saturday, February 24th, 8:00 am to Noon.

The CERT Training Program

The Pleasant Hill Police Department, in conjunction with the County Office of Emergency Services and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, is sponsoring Emergency Preparedness classes for residents of Pleasant Hill.


Emergency Planning experts predict that residents may be without utilities and basic community emergency services for a week following a major earthquake. CERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people they serve. The goal is to train members of neighborhoods and community organizations in basic emergency skills to become better prepared and to assist their families and neighbors following a disaster.

CERT training will include six 3 hour classes, one night per week, over a 6 week period. 

Subjects you will be taught include:


  • Disaster Preparedness and Terrorism
  • Fire Safety
  • Disaster Medical Operations
  • Light Search & Rescue
  • CERT Organization and Disaster Psychology
  • Simulated Disaster Exercise
